My personal training and nutrition recommendations are client based. Prior to any actual training, I take the client through a comprehensive evaluation process. For exercise-based training, I use a range of motion and movement eval along with a history of activity and issues. For nutritional counseling, I use a client food log, online questionnaire, interview, and review of health history.
I started out as a kid with horrible nutrition (loved my parents, but they did not have a clue). My diet consisted of sugar, sugar, more sugar. I was also a competitive swimmer growing up. This lifestyle led to breast cancer at age 36. By then I had been to college, gotten married, and figured out some nutritional upgrades. I was also attempting to dabble with Triathlons. I was working as a personal trainer, and swim coach.
The next stage in life brought three kiddos into my life all at once. My husband and I adopted his three granddaughters, then 3, 3, and 6. This was the most stressful and difficult life transition to date. I somehow was able to add more education by way of The Nutritional Therapy Association, and a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Certificate.
